Since my teen years, I have always dealt with acne (especially the hormonal kind). Fortunately, I have learned how to manage my skincare routine and which products work best for me.
During my high school years, I took birth control pills that helped with my hormonal acne. A few months ago, I decided to stop taking the pills to give my body a break. Not surprisingly, I had a slightly stronger breakout than when I was on the pills, which was part of my body adjusting without the pills.
I also took an antibiotic called doxycycline to help with my acne before weaning off it after a while.
Now, here are the products that I swear by that keep my acne-prone skin nice and clean.
I like to alternate between three cleansers. They include: Neutrogena pink grapefruit foaming scrub, CeraVe foaming cleanser (for normal to oily skin) and Murad Acne Control clarifying cleanser. This is the first step of my skincare routine, which I usually do after taking a shower and before I go to bed.
Next, I apply a toner all around my face and neck by using a cotton ball. I like to use the Clinique clarifying lotion #3 for combination to oily skin.
Finally, I like to moisturize my skin with Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizing gel. Sometimes, I like to use the Mario Badescu facial spray with aloe, cucumber and green tea (not pictured) to leaves my face feeling refreshed.
To spot-treat my acne, I like to use the Murad rapid relief acne spot treatment (not pictured) and it works wonders! All I need is a little dab and my blemishes go away in a couple of days.
All in all, skincare is especially important for me because I have acne-prone skin. Now, I have a routine that I can follow to take care of my delicate skin.
After years of trying so many products, these are the products that I love to use and helps clear my acne as well as make my skin looking great.
