For many years, I have always enjoyed eating cheesecake for dessert. According to Merriam-Webster, a cheesecake is "a dessert consisting of a creamy filling usually containing cheese baked in a pastry or pressed-crumb shell."
I have tried countless recipes from different restaurants, but nothing beats a homemade cheesecake baked from scratch.
The recipe that I love to follow to make homemade cheesecake is the one you would find inside the 8-ounce box of Philadelphia cream cheese. What I love about this recipe is its versatility. For example, you can add any topping of your choice (ex. mixed berries, caramel sauce or Oreo cookies). While a plain cheesecake uses a graham cracker crust, you might do an Oreo cookie crust instead.
Here is the Philadelphia classic cheesecake recipe:
These are the ingredients that you need:
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/3 cup margarine or butter, melted
3 tablespoons sugar
4 (8-ounce) packages Philadelphia cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 eggs
*The first three ingredients are for making the pressed-crumb crust, while the remaining ingredients are for the cheesecake filling
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Mix crumbs, butter, and 3 tablespoons sugar until combined; press firmly onto the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan.
Beat cream cheese, 1 cup sugar, and vanilla in a mixing bowl until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing on low speed until just blended. Pour over crust.
Bake in the preheated oven until center is almost set, about 55 minutes. Loosen cake from the pan rim; cool before removing rim.
Refrigerate for 4 hours before serving.
The end result is a dessert rich in flavor and creaminess. Plus, this recipe is easy and straightforward to do, but make sure you follow the measurements precisely. As with any other dessert recipe, I always make sure to measure each ingredient with precision to ensure a great-tasting result.
As with any dessert, make sure to enjoy this cheesecake in moderation. Enjoy!
